MOMENTS OF CHANGE

Moments of Change is a documentary on an innovative Social Day Care Program for Persons with Dementia.
There is no cure for Alzheimer’s yet. What’s perhaps even more tragic is that those suffering from Alzheimer’s
and other forms of dementia are often written off as hopeless and treated like as if they were not
persons any longer. The documentary will show that in an innovative day care program,
with its daily live music performances and home-like, humane, psychological atmosphere -
there is a possibility of a positive change. By creating the environment in which those participants with
dementia can feel loved, recognized, free to express themselves and encouraged to communicate,
in the 4-hour sessions a day – the staff and volunteers of the Lenox Hill Neighborhood CARE Program in NY,
offer the basis for a real MEETING. Capturing the moments of dignity and humanity in the very existential
nature of those meetings is the primary goal of the documentary.
